The University “Luigj Gurakuqi” of Shkodra has long been the major institution of higher education in the region, especially in the technical and scientific disciplines. However, the university has a complete void in the field of market economics and management. In 1992, the university received permission from the government to initiate the development of the Faculty of Economics, with responsibilities for emphasizing market economics, management, and business administration.

Mr. Menduh Derguti, former Rector of the University of Shkodra in 1992, specifically asked the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to help develop its curriculum in market of economics and business management.

Rector Derguti attended the training seminars provided by the UNL team in September, 1992. As a result, the current Rector, Dr. Gjovalin Kolombi, is quite enthusiastic to establish quality programs at the Faculty of Economics.

  1. Hi, am just writing to say that the work of Professor Christopher M. Bache (USA) and Rupert Sheldrake (UK) might be interest to the university for the development of environmental / ecological / psychological streams of study. I suppose I would like to include my self in this motivational dialogue. This would enable the future capacity for regional tourism based on the natural heritage (flora, plant, musical, etc.) aspects of Shokdra and River Valbona areas. Having been in the region some years ago I feel there is great potential for some interesting contemporary projects. I found the area highly therapeutic and beneficial and in a way just want to say that somehow it is exciting what could evolve there. Anyway, that is all for now. I am on FB and also as Whyteflower. I fell in love with the song Lulje Bore while I was there …. Anyways, if interested I have made some contact to perhaps begin email communication.
